How We Help
After-School Program
Call it the “kitchen table” or the heartbeat of UP RVA, our After-School Program helps our students process their day and get ready for tomorrow. Located at UP RVA headquarters in the East End, the program provides our students with dinner, access to wi-fi, tutoring and homework help, and social-emotional support two nights a week.
Academic Services
It helps to know where you’re going. We work with each student, their family, and their school to craft an academic plan, then help them stay on track with weekly visits with our UP RVA academic coaches. We also support students with school supplies, books, and technology.

Transportation
Our drivers are on the road from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., transporting our students to and from school each day, as well as to all extracurricular activities seven days a week.
College Prep
Applying to college is stressful! That’s why, besides the exceptional college counseling they get at their independent schools, UP RVA has a staff member dedicated to supporting them through the college search: the Senior Director of Post-Secondary Success. We also match each high school junior with a volunteer Community Champion who will walk with them through the college research, application, and matriculation process. UP RVA also helps with standardized test preparation, financial aid, and scholarship applications.
Summer Support
We help our older students identify ways to use their summer productively, whether through academic enrichment or opportunities to gain exposure to careers or college majors. We then support their choices with tuition, transportation, and other needs.
